Deutschklar — Privacy Policy

Version of 24 October 2026

1. Who is responsible

Deutschklar is offered by its developer. Contact for all questions about data protection: [email protected]

2. Your learning data stays on your device

The app works without an account. Your settings (language, exam, exam date, daily goal, reminder, reading speed), your learning progress (answers, study time, flashcards, writing drafts, test results) and your voice recordings (only when you tap "Record") are stored only on your device. The developer does not receive, see or store any of this data and does not sell or pass it on.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

To keep the app free, it shows ads from Google AdMob, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. When ads are requested and shown, Google processes data of your device: the advertising ID (Android advertising ID or Apple IDFA – on iPhone only with your permission), IP address, device and app information and your interaction with ads (e.g. taps). Google may transfer this data to Google LLC in the USA; Google relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Before ads are requested, users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see Google's consent message. Personalised ads are only shown with your consent; without consent Google shows non-personalised or limited ads. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in "More" › "Ad privacy settings" and in your device settings (reset or delete the advertising ID, limit ad tracking). More information: policies.google.com/privacy and policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

4. Device functions

  • Microphone: only for your own speaking practice and only after you allow it. You can withdraw the permission at any time in the device settings.
  • Notifications: optional daily reminders, created on your device only.
  • Text-to-speech: texts are read aloud by the built-in voice of your device.
  • Links: official pages open in your browser.

5. Purpose and legal basis

Learning functions: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; microphone and notifications: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Personalised ads and access to the advertising ID: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). Non-personalised ads to finance the free app: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). For users in Türkiye this notice is the information under Art. 10 of Law No. 6698 (KVKK); data processed for ads is transferred abroad by Google on the basis of appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses (Art. 9 KVKK). Your learning data is not transferred to anyone.

6. Storage period and deletion

Learning data stays on your device until you delete it ("Delete my voice recordings", "Reset the app" in "More") or uninstall the app. Data processed by Google for ads is stored according to Google's privacy policy; you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the device settings.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR and Art. 11 KVKK you have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and you can withdraw a consent at any time with effect for the future. For questions write to [email protected]; for ad data you can also contact Google. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (in Germany the authority of your federal state, in Türkiye the Personal Data Protection Authority, KVKK).

8. Children

The app is intended for adults who are preparing for a German exam.

9. Changes

If this notice changes, the app asks you to read and accept the new version.
